Children and youth are brought into care for a variety of reasons such as; they have been harmed or are at risk to being harmed, have been exposed to abuse or domestic violence, that their natural parents or guardians may not be able to take care of them or they may need permanent placement apart from their biological family.
Each child or youth in care is assigned a Children’s Services Worker who meets with the child or youth privately on a regular basis. The Children’s Services Worker is part of a team who works together to help meet the child and youth’s specific needs and to provide support.
If you are a child or youth in the care of The Children’s Aid Society of Northumberland you have many rights and responsibilities. The booklets below can help you understand what rights and responsibilities you have.
The Children’s Aid Society of Northumberland is currently looking at implementing a program for our youth in care between the ages of thirteen and twenty-one which would help them to develop life skills, allow them to meet other youth in care and do fun stuff at the same time.
