If I am unhappy with the service I have received from the Children's Aid Society and I wish to complain, what do I do?

 

 

When should you contact us?

If you are aware of a child or youth under the age of 16 who may be maltreated or neglected. If you are under the age of 16 and have been maltreated or neglected or are afraid you will be.


If you find the pressures of family life hard to live with and you are afraid you may take it out on your children.


If illness, death, separation, drugs or alcohol are causing family breakdown.


If you need help regarding a pregnancy.


If you are a teenager experiencing serious conflict in your family.


If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, foster parent or adoptive parent.

Is information confidential?

Information given to a Children's Aid Society is confidential and can be shared only with the permission of the person to whom it relates, or by a court order or subpoena.

If I am unhappy with the service I have received from the Children's Aid Society and I wish to complain, what do I do?

It is very important that you try to resolve the issue with your assigned child protection worker and his/her supervisor. At any point in this process you have the option of filing a formal complaint.

The formal process is initiated by putting your complaint in writing to the Director of Service. You must state:

What your complaint is;

What evidence you have to support your complaint, and

What remedies you are seeking.
